The Greek myths are stories that will never go away. They speak to the heart of what it means to be human. Take a look at the New York Times Best Seller List and you will see the god/desses are still with us. Visit your local art museum and there you will see the gods transformed into immortal works of art. There is a reason why they still strike a chord millennia after their first annunciation. In this series of workshops, we explore the profound significance of these stories and use them as creative inspiration to engage body, mind, and spirit in meaningful activities that connect us and bring meaning into our lives.

In this series of workshops we learn about Greek mythology and culture by embodying the gods. Using drama, poetry, literature, and music, we enact the stories that are so embedded in our collective consciousness.
-God/dess Enactment: in pairs/groups we read, discuss and enact a mythological story based on the themes that the group wants to explore. We deconstruct the mythic archetypes in these stories and bring out the wisdom that they offer for us even in our present day challenges.
–Muse Musings: we gather in a circle and using sacred mythic texts from Hesiod, Homer, and modern Greek poets alluding to myth, we journal, dream and discuss their significance and the impact on our lives. We write our own musings to the myths and create our own poetry along with musical accompaniment with these stories as an inspiration.
-Cosplay with Greek Mythology/Photo Enactment: using ancient costumes, props and other creative embellishments, we recreate still shots or tableux of the myths and immortalize them using photography. Think about it as Cosplay with Greek Mythology. What a better background than the blue and white of the Cycladic islands! We bring the myths alive in the landscape that birthed them. Photographic images are rendered by a professional photographer.
–God/dess Intuition: calling on our deepest intuition we delve into the future of our lives and our intentions guided by the wisdom of the deity that speaks to us. Through guided imagery and meditation, we embody and bring to consciousness the wisdom that a particular god/dess brings to us.
-The Hero(ine)’s Journey: The Odyssey has become a central metaphor for life. This epic still electrifies the collective imagination into the 21st century as its influence abounds in artistic, literary and popular culture. The story is of the clever Odysseus, a war veteran who must undergo a long series of obstacles before he has a breakthrough allowing him to return home. We will pick up the hero’s journey traced in the epic and trace it in our lives. Through dramatic reenactments, poetic readings, journal work, personal art “maps”, and readings from renowned mythographer Joseph Campbell, we will explore our own odyssey and find the way “home” to our most essential and authentic selves.
