My Camino a post-Camino processing Expressive Arts Workshop

Congratulations, Pilgrim! If you are here, you have finished your Camino. But, as you might have realized, the Camino stays with you even long after you stop walking.

Through the journey, you have traveled up and down many hills, you have felt the ups and downs emotionally, but now what? Many things probably came up for you during this journey. It is very common to experience a break-through, a catharsis, a resolution to a problem or an answer to a prayer. It is how I felt when I went on Camino. I came out of it transformed. The Camino helped me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. When I finished, it took me a long while to process what had happened. Many days I still wanted to be on Camino. That’s why I created this workshop. I needed a way to process the Camino after I had arrived home.

This workshop is meant to do just that. It guides pilgrims through the post-processing of the Camino, especially as there are as many reasons to embark on it as there are pilgrims.I have designed a workshop in two parts: 1 the stand-alone steps to create a visual art container, much like the credencial, that guides pilgrims through their spiritual reflections of the Camino to help them process all that has happened to them both on the outside and on the inside. 2) an online session after participants have finished the kit; we meet to share our Creative Credencial and share our experiences.

OBJECTIVES
In this workshop, you will be directed through a series of expressive arts activities, including meditation, photo collage, movement, role play, journaling, and visual art, in order to reflect on your Camino. You will be guided in a series of creative steps that will allow you to recollect, reflect, and memorialize your Camino journey. You will create a visual container, a creative credencial, that marks the insights you might have received on the journey. A cross between a personal diary, a travel journal, and a keepsake heirloom, the culminating product will help you make sense of the journey and keep the Grace of its power with you as a memento of your achievement. Then, you will share and connect your Creative Camino Credencial with others who have finished the course in a witnessing virtual meeting. We will gather to share our journeys, our experiences, and our creative products and remember the power of the Camino. By the end, you will have:

  • come to a deeper understanding of self
  • traced your growth through the Camino
  • created a creative product to memorialize the Camino
  • connected to others on the Camino and witnessed their Creative Credencial

Our on-line session is scheduled for June 11th. Should you choose to participate, you will be emailed directions and snail mailed a kit that includes an accordion book, much like your original credencial, and other art materials to complete the art container.

Creative Credencial Camino Kit includes:
-credencial with 25 pages (81/2 x11 accordion booklet)
-3 stamps and stamp pad
-5 placeholders for photos
-old fashioned pen
-wax to create your own stamp
– 4 fun markers
-assorted papers, illustrations, old engravings
-embellishments

Buen Camino!
