Mindfulness through Expressive Arts

What? * a 6-part course aimed for children, teens, and young adults who struggle with self-regulation, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation

Using a multi-modal approach that engages more than one sense, this workshop helps young people self-regulate by developing self-awareness, introspection, mindfulness, attention, community building, listening and witnessing through various creative tasks.

Schedule for typical session:

  • Intention/Mindfulness/Centering Beginning Exercise. (5-10')


  • Journaling/Sketching/Think-Pair-Share: (10')

  • music movement group icebreaker (10')
  • drama game (10')

    CORE CREATIVE ACTIVITY: (20-25')  body poster/graphic chapter/mandala collage/vision board

     Active Witnessing: sharing of creativity/Synthesis  (10')
  • Ending Mindfulness ceremony (5')
  • evaluation/feedback (2-3')

Cost: $300 for 6 weeks.

Workshop Includes:

* all materials
*a multi-modal, trauma-informed approach grounded in the expressive arts and in alliance with the professional and ethical standards of IEATA (International Expressive Arts Therapy Association)
*facilitation by a licensed NY State teacher (7-12) with 23 years serving at-risk, special needs, multi-cultural, diverse students from elementary to university in the NYC public schools
*dedicated sanitized space (but adapted to Zoom and other remote learning platforms)
